Working safely with crane systems: a crane operator’s license is mandatory

Improper operation of crane systems can lead to serious, sometimes even fatal accidents. Regular training and in-depth training minimize this risk considerably – in many cases, accidents can be avoided completely.

Lack of training as a risk
However, experience shows that many companies either do not train their operating personnel adequately or not at all. The necessary crane operator’s license course is often not taken, resulting in a lack of the necessary qualifications and safety.

A common misconception in companies is that no special certificates or qualifications are required for crane operators. DGUV Regulation 52 and Section 12 of the new Ordinance on Industrial Safety and Health speak for themselves:
A crane operator’s license is mandatory in Germany for anyone who operates cranes that fall under the DGUV regulations.

Annual training is required by law
In addition to passing the crane operator training, annual training is mandatory in accordance with DGUV Regulation 1, Section 4. This regular refresher course ensures that crane operators are always up to date with the latest safety regulations and best practices.

Conclusion:
Obtaining a crane operator’s license and regular training are not just legal requirements, but a key prerequisite for working safely with crane systems. Make sure you have well-trained personnel – your safety and that of your employees comes first.

The additional training courses

Tower crane

Tower crane

A tower crane is a specialized crane designed for use on construction sites and for handling heavy loads at great heights. Its characteristic feature is the rotating jib, which is mounted either above or below the crane tower. This allows the crane to lift, move and set down loads precisely without moving its base.

Loading crane

Loading crane

A loader crane is a specialized crane that is usually mounted on vehicles and has been specially developed for loading and unloading goods. Its characteristic feature is the flexible, hydraulic jib arms, which can lift, move and set down loads precisely and efficiently without having to move the vehicle.
