- Material fatigue: With sling ropes or slings, you should look out for signs of material fatigue, such as worn fibers, roughened surfaces or loose threads. Such signs may indicate that the material has lost its strength and load-bearing capacity.
- Markings and certifications: Check whether the sling material has the required markings and certifications. These provide information on the manufacturing standards, load-bearing capacity and areas of application of the material.
- Expiry date or maintenance intervals: Some slings, especially synthetic materials, have an expiry date or prescribed maintenance intervals. Make sure that the sling material is still within the valid period and that the maintenance instructions have been observed.
