Qualified person for testing winches, lifting and pulling devices
What is required:
In accordance with Section 2 (7) BetrSichV, qualified persons must be authorized to carry out the tasks specified in sentence 1. examinations, have the necessary specialist knowledge. These are acquired through:
vocational training
with professional experience
and a prompt professional activity
What do you need to check for winches, lifting and towing devices and what are the test criteria?
The test methods include visual inspections, functional tests, measurements and, if necessary, non-destructive testing methods such as crack testing or ultrasonic testing.
The test procedures include a thorough inspection of all relevant components of the hoists and lifting equipment, including mechanical, electrical and safety aspects.
Load capacity calculation: This calculation refers to the maximum load that a hoist or load handling attachment can safely lift, based on various factors such as material strength, design features and operating conditions. Example: Calculation of the maximum load capacity of an electric chain hoist based on the manufacturer’s specifications for material strength and the design parameters of the chain hoist.
Tension calculation: This calculation concerns the load on the ropes, chains or other lifting equipment during operation to ensure that they can withstand the loads and do not fail. Example: Calculation of the tension in a wire rope during the lifting process based on the load, the length of the rope and other operating parameters.
Calculation of the load’s center of gravity: This calculation refers to determining the center of gravity of a load to ensure that it can be lifted and moved stably and safely. Example: Calculating the center of gravity of an irregularly shaped object using geometric calculations or mathematical models.
Calculation of operating loads: This calculation concerns the determination of the maximum operating loads that a hoist or load handling attachment can handle based on the operating conditions and frequency of use in order to avoid overloading and failure. Example: Calculation of the maximum permissible operating load of a forklift truck, taking into account the load distribution, travel speed and other operating parameters.
